MADRID IS INTERNATIONAL

Last December 1^st, a delegation from Zhejiang was received at Madrid City Hall. This Chinese province is the tenth in population and the fourth in terms of Gross Domestic Product. The delegation was led by Mr. Zhou Shuxun, Deputy Director General of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Zhejiang Province.

They were attended by Mr. Ricardo Iglesias, Head of External Relations Service, organizer of the meeting, who gave a short introduction about the city and the Madrid City Council.

Later, Mr. Luis Tejero, Climate Change Technician, gave a presentation on the “Madrid Compensa” program and, finally, Ms. Cristina Pino, Deputy of the Department of Fauna and Biodiversity, gave a brief presentation of the “Green and Biodiversity Infrastructure Plan” Project. Biodiversity” of the Madrid City Council.

In September 2025, the fifth World Conference on Biosphere Reserves will take place in the capital of Zhejiang, Hangzhou, making China the first country in the Asia-Pacific region to host the meeting. To this goal, they want to know the environmental protection policies of the city of Madrid and achieve cooperation in these areas with our city.
